award · 2026-04-20

In celebration of its 40th anniversary, the Hong Kong Arts Centre has introduced its inaugural honorary fellowships, awarded to comic artist Theresa Lee Wai-chun and composer Samson Young. These fellowships aim to acknowledge outstanding contributions across various fields, such as visual arts, music, theatre, comics, animation, public arts, dance, film, and media arts. Chairman Dominica Yang stated that the awards highlight remarkable accomplishments in both local and global art communities, extending beyond Asia, while also recognizing efforts to mentor emerging artists. Both awardees have established strong connections with the HKAC and resonate with its mission. Notably, Samson Young represented Hong Kong at the 2017 Venice Biennale. The Hong Kong Arts Centre serves as the city's only independent, nonprofit multi-arts institution, promoting artistic collaboration through exhibitions, screenings, and performances.
