Homo Faber 2026: Es Devlin Curates 'An Island of Light' in Venice

exhibition · 2026-04-26

The fourth edition of Homo Faber Biennial, titled 'An Island of Light,' will take place from September 1–30, 2026, at Fondazione Giorgio Cini on San Giorgio Maggiore Island in Venice. Artistic director Es Devlin conceived the exhibition as an archipelago of 15 immersive installations featuring hundreds of artisans worldwide. Light serves as both material and metaphor, animating works across woodwork, weaving, porcelain, and paper. Installations include 'A Full Moon Rising' and 'A Feast of Light.' Live artisan demonstrations dissolve boundaries between process and finished object. The program Homo Faber in Città extends into Venice, opening workshops and cultural spaces for deeper engagement with craft heritage. Tickets are available at homofaber.com.
