Hommage exhibition pairs living and deceased Apulian artists

The exhibition 'Hommage' runs until February 5 at Torrione Passari in Molfetta, part of a tour that previously stopped at Museo Nuova Era in Bari and will continue from February 9 at CRAC in Taranto. Conceived by artist Iginio Iurilli and curated by Carmelo Cipriani, the show surveys contemporary art in Apulia by pairing works of living artists with those of masters who died in the last decade. Pairings include Paolo Lunanova with Biagio Caldarelli (d. 1999), Giuseppe Teofilo with Cristiano De Gaetano (1975–2013), Agnese Purgatorio with Vettor Pisani (1934–2011), Iginio Iurilli with Jolanda Spagno (d. 2018), Piero Di Terlizzi with Mimmo Conenna (1942–1998), and others. The installation is organized in couples, each living artist confronting the work of a deceased colleague. The project stems from friendships and shared artistic paths, with written testimonies from the living artists accompanying the works. Curator Cipriani states the aim is not conceptual or formal assonance but a concrete dialogue between people, with works serving as metaphors for real relationships. The exhibition is open Tuesday to Sunday, 10-13 and 18-21, closed Monday.
