Hommage à Sade Returns to Paris with Erotic Art at Galerie Marion Meyer

The exhibition 'Hommage à Sade' opened at Galerie Marion Meyer in Paris from June 9 to July 31, 2006. Originally conceived in 1999 by Guy Scarpetta at Galerie Martagon in Malaucène, Provence, the show was revived and expanded with a catalogue. It features works by deceased artists Man Ray, Pierre Klossowski, Pierre Molinier, and Antonio Saura, alongside 17 living artists including Arnaud Labelle-Rojoux, Véronique Boudier, Philippe Ramette, Jean-Jacques Lebel, and Rachel Laurent. Rather than illustrating Sade's writings, the exhibition embodies a Sadean 'against-nature' spirit through erotic and irreverent pieces. Notable works include Richard Fauguet's 'Mon boucher est un artiste !' and 'Épreuve d’artiste', Bertrand Lavier's 'Escarpin soclé', Saverio Lucariello's vanitas-inspired photographs, Philippe Mayaux's kitsch obscenity, Vincent Labaume's mobile with a Camembert box referencing Georges Bataille, Alain Jacquet's 'Femmes de dos', and Édouard Levé's abstracted orgiastic scenes featuring the 'Malaucène band'. The show coincides with 'La Force de l’art' at the Grand Palais, offering a provocative off-site alternative.
