other · 2026-04-24

Anne Tronche, a prominent figure in France's art community and a frequent writer for artpress, passed away unexpectedly on October 16. During her funeral, Raphaël Cuir, the president of AICA France and a collaborator at artpress, honored her memory with a eulogy that highlighted her commitment to artists and intellectual depth. In 2013, Tronche was awarded the inaugural AICA France art criticism prize, presented in PechaKucha format on International Women's Day. She worked alongside Cuir on the prize's publication and organized an exhibition with Laura Lamiel at the Musée d'Art Moderne de Saint-Étienne. Throughout her career, she supported numerous artists, wrote for various publications, and authored several notable books, including L'art des années 1960, which received the FILAF d'or. Additionally, she curated significant exhibitions and held the position of Inspectrice à la Création artistique at the Ministry of Culture. Cuir mentioned that an AICA congress in London had recently honored her contributions.
