Holzrausch renovates Munich townhouse with cinematic South American flair

Holzrausch, a German architectural firm, has transformed a townhouse in Munich, drawing inspiration from South American cinema of the 1970s. Commissioned by film producer Cornelia Popp, the renovation, titled Private Club, exudes a moody, theatrical vibe with elements such as dark wood, natural stone, and tropical greenery. The design unfolds like a narrative, providing an engaging atmosphere. Situated within a typical 1990s development, the townhouse boasts a unique aesthetic. A compact entryway opens into a spacious, sunlit living area featuring expansive glazed doors and clerestory windows. The joinery incorporates smoked oak and dark-stained okoume wood, while the kitchen showcases quartzite and stainless steel, accented by vibrant yellow. Founded in 1998 by Sven Petzold and Tobias Petri, Holzrausch has also worked on prominent projects in Frankfurt and Mallorca.
