Holly Keogh's Debut UK Solo Exhibition at Soup Gallery, London

exhibition · 2026-04-29

Soup Gallery presents its nineteenth exhibition, Holly Keogh's debut UK solo show "Bang Bang Bang On The Door Baby!". Keogh (b.1991, North Carolina) is an American painter based in London, who earned an MA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths in 2025 and a BA in Fine Art and Art History from UNC-Charlotte. Her paintings explore glamour as a power structure shaping femininity, blurred public-private boundaries conflating personal and collective memory, perpetual online presence inflating anxieties, and the overpowering need to desire and be desired. She incorporates imagery from family photographs, art historical or popcultural allegories, and lived experience, using a saturated palette and a relief-based printing process that contrasts permanence and ephemerality. The exhibition takes inspiration from outdated interiors of late 70s to early 80s books, featuring hollow homes captured with harsh flash photography, devoid of human touch yet psychologically charged. Overlaid figures and faces come from self-help guides and practical handbooks. Keogh paints onto upholstery foam, transferring images as ghostly imprints. A gridded construction of smaller works serves as a storyboard of suburban wealth signifiers, with sinister undertones like a bandaged hand offering bubbly or a red-eyed bunny. The exhibition runs until May 16, 2026.
