HKWalls 2026 Brings Murals, Mobile Trucks, and Digital Art to Hong Kong

In March 2026, Hong Kong hosted the eleventh edition of HKWalls, a prominent street art festival. Established in 2014 by Jason Dembski, Stan Wu, and Maria Wong, the event has showcased over 300 artists from more than 30 nations. This year’s festival highlighted the work of over 20 artists from 14 countries, divided into three segments: murals, trucks, and digital creations. The mural segment focused on Central and the Western District, featuring artists like Fabio Petani (Italy), Hardthirteen (Indonesia), Enoch Wong (Hong Kong), and Asbestos (Ireland). The trucks initiative, in collaboration with a logistics service, turned vehicles into moving art, showcasing talents such as Leho (Taiwan) and Mooncasket (Hong Kong). Additionally, the digital program displayed works on large screens and building facades, including contributions from Ondřej Rakušan (Czech Republic) and Chaaya Prabhat (India). The festival navigates Hong Kong's challenging landscape of high property costs, stringent regulations, and a delicate political environment, aiming to connect with communities outside conventional art spaces, despite some graffiti artists' concerns about institutional involvement.
