Historic Ohio Mansion 'Playmore' Lists for $5.95 Million

The historic Ohio mansion known as 'Playmore,' built in 1929 by architect Benjamin S. Hubbell, has been listed for $5.95 million. Located in Kirtland, Ohio, on the second-highest point in Lake County, the 14,900-square-foot property features seven bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, and a 3,000-square-foot entertainment wing with a billiards room, cocktail lounge, hookah lounge, wine cellar, music studio, and movie room. Current owner Wade Miquelon, former CEO of Jo-Ann Stores and former executive at Procter & Gamble and Walgreens, acquired the estate in June 2017 for just over $2 million. He refurbished original details including woodwork, marble, and Tiffany glass, while modernizing the design with help from John H. Wolf of Wolf Home Design. The French Provincial exterior has sandstone walls and slate roofing. The property includes manicured gardens, stone terraces, bocce courts, a koi pond, a swimming pool, and English gardens designed by landscape architect Roger Dorer of Bremec Group, who planted over 20,000 trees. Views encompass the Holden Arboretum and Lake Erie. The listing is held by David B. Ayers and Nick Zawitz of the Agency. Playmore can be sold furnished with art upon request.
