Historial de la Grande Guerre Marks 110 Years of the Somme with Material History Exhibition

For the 110th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme, the Historial de la Grande Guerre in Péronne presents an exhibition of objects from the battle, spanning from 1916 to the present. The show features a mandolin handcrafted by a soldier in a trench, along with letters, medals, makeshift tools, and traces of care and mourning. Through these artifacts, the war is reframed not as a military event but as a fabric of lives, both soldiers and civilians. The exhibition runs from June 28 to December 6, 2026, at Place André Audinot, 80200 Péronne.
