Hisae Ikenaga's 'Anatomies of Use' at KIOSK, Ghent
Mexican-Japanese artist Hisae Ikenaga presents 'Anatomies of Use' at KIOSK in Ghent from April 4 to June 7, 2026. The solo exhibition features sculptures, assemblages, and collages that rework industrial materials and everyday objects into hybrid forms. Since the 2000s, Ikenaga has collected and recomposed objects, questioning their use and meaning. Works include 'Black Artichoke', 'Industrial Ruines', and 'Restes Morcelés'. The exhibition is held in KIOSK's Anatomical Theatre within KASK & Conservatory, historically a site for medical dissection, now for artistic education. A new video 'Soft Dissection', made with film director Paula Onet, explores intersections of artisanal and medical gestures. The exhibition is co-curated by Charlotte Masse of Konschthal Esch, who also organized Ikenaga's 2024 solo show 'Phantom Limbs'. Production of new ceramic works was supported by Fondation Schleich-Lentz and Kultur | lx—Arts Council Luxembourg.
