Hill of the Arts: International Call to Transform Villa Altissimo into Luxury Creative Hotel

Unipol Urban Up and YAC – Young Architects Competitions have launched the international call 'Hill of the Arts' to transform Villa Altissimo, a historic Savoy-style villa on the hills of Moncalieri near Turin, into a luxury artistic residence. The villa, owned by the Unipol Group, was once the home of Renato Altissimo, former secretary of the Liberal Party and minister during the First Republic, who died in Rome in 2015. Born in Portogruaro in 1940, he graduated in political science in Turin and worked in the family automotive lighting business linked to Fiat. The project aims to create not just an art hotel but a performative center fostering dialogue between art and nature, artists and the public. The competition is open to young architects, with a first prize of €10,000 (total prize pool €20,000). The jury includes Daniel Libeskind, Patrik Schumacher, Edoardo Tresoldi, Paolo Danelli, Lukas Barry, Giuseppe Lobalsamo, Emmanuelle Moureaux, Emanuele Montibeller, and Giorgio Palmucci. Submissions must be received by April 29, 2020, with results announced on May 25, 2020.
