Hilario Isola Creates Permanent Installation for Arteparco 2026 in Abruzzo National Park

Hilario Isola has been commissioned to create a permanent installation titled "Santa Rosalia" for Arteparco 2026, an art initiative in the Parco Nazionale d’Abruzzo, Lazio e Molise. The sculpture, made from copper sheets and nets, is inspired by the Rosalia alpina beetle, a rare insect inhabiting ancient beech trees and vital to local biodiversity. Designed for the park's ancient forests, the work blends mimetically into the landscape, prompting reflection on insects' ecological roles and nature's fragility. Isola's contribution also includes a Project Room at the MAXXI L’Aquila, part of the exhibition "ARTEPARCO. Arte nella natura" curated by Fanny Borel. There, visitors can view the documentary-interview "Metamorfosi," a model of "Santa Rosalia," and the work "Paesaggio Bacato," which transforms insect biological waste into poetic and archaeological objects. The project was conceived by Abruzzo-based entrepreneur and communicator Paride Vitale, resulting from collaboration between the Parco Nazionale d’Abruzzo, Lazio e Molise, the municipality of Pescasseroli, and the perfume brand PARCO1923. Support comes from BMW Italia, GORE-TEX® Brand, BCC Roma, Generali, and INWIT. Arteparco 2026 continues its mission of enhancing the national park through contemporary art, expanding its exhibition and cultural dimensions.
