High Line's 520 West 28th Gets Street Art Murals by Meres One and See Tf

The Related Companies, a major US real estate firm, commissioned street artists Jonathan 'Meres One' Cohen and See Tf to create murals around the 520 West 28th luxury condominium designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, set to open a year after the architect's death. The murals, painted on corrugated metal panels surrounding the construction site, feature decorative tags without political or social messages, aiming to boost property values. Both artists are from 5Pointz in Queens, a former industrial complex turned street art hub. The project is part of the broader High Line development, which began in 2011 with the conversion of an elevated railway into a public park by Diller Scofidio + Renfro. The area has seen a real estate boom, with 15 galleries opening near the building last month, signaling a new art district. The murals will remain until the site opens and will dialogue with artworks curated by Cecilia Alemani along the High Line. The High Line's northern extension near Hudson Yards will soon add a new exhibition space.
