Hidden Histories: Prinz Gholam Performance at Palazzo Altemps

other · 2026-04-27

On October 31, 2020, the artist duo Prinz Gholam performed 'My heart is a poised cithara' at the Museo di Palazzo Altemps in Rome, as part of the collateral events of the Quadriennale d'Arte 2020. The duo, winners of the Premio Roma Villa Massimo 2020/21, created the work in collaboration with the Accademia Tedesca Roma Villa Massimo. The performance is part of 'Hidden Histories', a three-year project curated by Sara Alberani and Valerio Del Baglivo, featuring site-specific events including performances, workshops, talks, and urban explorations that reflect on the socio-political history of specific locations in Rome. Conceived during the first lockdown in 2020, the project aims to engage artistic research in reclaiming public space and the need for physical encounters. The next event on December 15, 2020, will feature a video interview with artist Daniela Ortiz and the collective Stalker, available online from 12:30 on piazzadispagna.es and Facebook page Locales. The interview explores artistic practices in relation to public space, particularly colonial and imperialist symbols, architectures, and histories in urban contexts.
