Hiber Nation Transforms London Gallery into Adult-Sized Blanket Fort for Rest as Resistance
As part of Spider London's arts initiative, Hiber Nation is a group exhibition curated by ezhava ekabo donyi alongside Juliet Cook and Monu, transforming a former Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament building into an immersive blanket fort. The exhibition, featuring 18 artists, critiques grind culture and hyper-productivity by presenting rest as a means of collective survival. Designed by Kat Easto, the space utilized mauve fabrics and included a massage ball by #ffff00. Highlights included Becky Hoghton's amuletic helmets and Nurin Yusof's performance 'mending the self' set in the fictional Nurinasia. Additional elements comprised a robotic pillow by Arash Rafiei, sonic lullabies, and an olfactory armpit. A film screening supported by Institut Français and Media Club: Noah's Archive complemented the event. The show featured artists such as Zhen Zhen, negations, Faye Van Andel, and others, and ran in London.
