HEY! Modern Art & Pop Culture Exhibition at La Halle Saint-Pierre

exhibition · 2026-04-24

La Halle Saint-Pierre in Paris hosts its third exhibition curated by the duo Anne & Julien, who run the magazine HEY! Modern art & pop culture. Following their 2011 and 2013 shows, this final edition presents a visual jumble juxtaposing disparate objects and artworks from France, the USA, Argentina, Japan, and beyond, creating a borderless art panorama. The curators prioritize spontaneous collection over critical judgment. Recognized artist Dado appears alongside 'singular' artists from the Fabuloserie collection in Dicy, Yonne, including founder Alain Bourbonnais's whimsical figures and contemporary creators like Francis Marshall. The exhibition blurs lines between art and non-art, intentional and involuntary creation. Notable works include stereoscopic photos of Diableries from the early 20th century, trench art from World War I, and spectacular Japanese FreakShow banners from the Tsuzuki collection, previously shown at MIAM in the Heta Huma exhibition on Japanese underground graphics. Gregory Halili's Memento skulls carved from shells serve as contemporary vanities. The show functions as a cabinet of curiosities, questioning taste and kitsch in contemporary mass art. Anne & Julien previously curated Tatoueurs, tatoués at the Musée du Quai Branly, exploring the shift from symbolic practice to aesthetic posture. The exhibition runs at La Halle Saint-Pierre in Paris.
