Herzog & de Meuron's Elbphilharmonie Opens in Hamburg
The Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, designed by Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron, has officially opened as a new urban landmark. Located between the city center and the port, the concert hall sits atop the former Kaispeicher warehouse. It features three performance venues, a hotel, and a public observation platform, aiming to be a "home for everyone." At the opening, the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra conducted by Thomas Hengelbrock performed with the Bayerischer Rundfunk choir. Simultaneously, the building's facade became a luminous display, translating music into real-time colors and shapes.
