Herradura Re-Releases 110-Proof Still-Strength Tequila Directo de Alambique

other · 2026-07-28

Casa Herradura has reintroduced Directo de Alambique, a high-proof tequila bottled at 110 proof (55% ABV), which is the highest strength permitted by Mexican CRT regulations. This expression, first launched in 2012, makes its comeback after more than ten years. Crafted from Blue Weber agaves sourced from various Mexican regions, the tequila undergoes a 26-hour cooking process in clay ovens, is fermented outdoors near fruit trees to capture wild yeast, and is distilled twice. Flavor notes feature cooked agave, fresh fruit, citrus, herbs, and olive oil. Global brand ambassador William Brooks emphasized that this release showcases Casa Herradura's dedication to traditional techniques and adapting to consumer preferences. Limited quantities are available at select US retailers for $80, outpacing other still-strength tequilas like El Tequileño (100 proof) and Fortaleza (92 proof).
