Hernan Pitto Bellocchio and Matilde Solbiati debut new works at Spazio 22 in Milan
At Spazio 22 in Milan, Chilean artist and architect Hernan Pitto Bellocchio (born 1984 in Santiago) and Milanese artist Matilde Solbiati (born 1986) present their first collaborative exhibition, featuring newly created works exploring memory. Bellocchio installs an ethereal grid of threads alongside pencil and ink drawings on Japanese paper, using triangular patterns that multiply to evoke the morphology of a forest—an archetypal representation of the Andes mountain range that defines Santiago's geography. Solbiati draws on an intellectual, archival inspiration: the three volumes of "L'enciclopedia della donna," a 1960s manual on everything a woman should know. Working as a bricoleur and proofreader, she rewrites page by page a contemporary atlas dedicated to women, blending irony and sensitivity. The exhibition marks the first dialogue between the two artists.
