Hermès Opens New Boutique in Rome's Palazzo Arconati Negroni Caffarelli
Hermès has inaugurated a new boutique in Rome's historic center, occupying 630 square meters across two levels of Palazzo Arconati Negroni Caffarelli. The store, designed by RDAI under the artistic direction of Denis Montel, features essential interiors with materials such as boiserie, Calcata marble with golden veins, exposed Roman brickwork, and hand-finished surfaces using textile and mineral pigments to achieve tones of Sienna earth, red, and bronze. A marble staircase leads to the second floor, illuminated by a glass roof, with large display cases showcasing jewelry, watches, and collector bags. The boutique offers the full Hermès repertoire: from carrés and ties to bags, saddlery, clothing, accessories, small furniture, porcelain, crystal, and a rocking horse. Dutch artist Noa Verhofstadt designed the window displays, a fantasmagoria dedicated to the equestrian world in nature, sport, and mythology. The previous store on Via dei Condotti, opened in 1994, will continue to host events and exhibitions until 2017. The new location is at via Bocca di Leone 23-27, in the fashion district encompassing Via dei Condotti, Via Borgognona, and the area between via della Fontanella Borghese and Campo Marzio. The official opening was preceded by a cocktail hosted by the Hermès family at Palazzo Farnese.
