Hermès Opens Idiosyncratic Maison Bond Street in London

architecture-design · 2026-06-15

Hermès has inaugurated its largest flagship in London, Maison Bond Street, located at 166 New Bond Street, which encompasses six Grade II–listed townhouses. Designed by RDAI under the direction of Denis Montel, the architecture highlights the buildings' historical layers and varying levels instead of concealing them. The space features 55 rooms, five staircases, four elevators, and two roof terraces, each representing one of Hermès's sixteen métiers, complete with distinct color palettes. Among its standout elements are red lacquered domed ceilings in the leather section, a botanical illustration by Katie Scott in the fragrance area, and a two-story glass roof in the atrium. Artistic director Pierre-Alexis Dumas curated over 500 artworks displayed throughout. The previous flagship at 155 New Bond Street and the Selfridges concession have ceased operations, with client accounts transitioning automatically. The store also boasts a café and a planted roof terrace, prioritizing customer experience over mere transactions.
