Hermès Launches 2021-2022 Home Collection Celebrating Craftsmanship and Natural Materials
Hermès has introduced its 2021-2022 Collection for the home, a range of items designed to celebrate the symbiosis of human touch, natural textures, and raw materials. The collection includes lamps, baskets, armchairs, tea sets, and more, all emphasizing tactile experiences and expert craftsmanship. Notable pieces include baskets made of woven wicker and bull calf leather with Intervalle crystal-stemmed glasses, inspired by traditional French braiding techniques. Designer Gianpaolo Pagni contributed Tigre bayadère plaids in cashmere with tiger motifs and dessert plates featuring horse figures derived from the Emile Hermès collection. The Sillage d’Hermès armchair, designed by Studio Mumbai, incorporates recycled materials from Puglia, Italy, where paper-mâché originated in the 16th century. The Sarazine table lamp, by Jean-Michel Sarazin, uses writing paper for its shade and saddle-stitched cowhide leather. The collection aims to connect the hand of the maker with the consumer through materials and sensations.
