Hermès Donates GianMarco Porru's Window Display Art to Milan's Biblioteca Sormani
GianMarco Porru's window display for Hermès in Milan, titled "Marmellata di mele cotogne," has been donated to the Biblioteca Sormani. Created for the boutique on Via Montenapoleone, the works were inspired by Hermès's 2024 annual theme "Lo spirito del Faubourg," referencing the historic address 24 Faubourg Saint-Honoré. Porru reinterpreted the myth of Hermes and Pegasus as a contemporary narrative about a journey to collect the best fruit for marmalade. Born in Italy in 1989, Porru lives and works in Milan, exploring Mediterranean cultures and mythologies through installation, film, and photography. His works have been exhibited at venues including Solar dos Abacaxis and Tropigalpao in Rio de Janeiro, Pirelli Hangar Bicocca and Fondazione Sozzani in Milan, Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo in Guarene, Museo Nivola in Orani, PAV in Turin, Museo MAN in Nuoro, and Museo del Novecento in Milan. In 2023, he was an artist-in-residence at Solar dos Abacaxis, supported by the Italian Council program. The donation to the public library merges Hermès's narrative tradition with Milan's cultural heritage.
