Hermès and Triennale Milano Launch Dance Prize for Under-35 Artists

award · 2026-05-04

The 2019/2020 season of Triennale Milano Teatro marks the start of a biennial collaboration with Hermès Italia: the Premio Hermès Danza Triennale Milano. Five international artists under 35 were proposed by artistic director Umberto Angelini: Nikima Jagudajev (Russia), Nicola Galli (Italy), Zora Snake (Cameroon), Lenio Kaklea (Greece), and the Italian duo Panzetti/Ticconi. A jury composed of Daniel Blanga Gubbay, Silvia Bottiroli, and Giusi Tinella selected two winners: Lenio Kaklea and the duo Ginevra Panzetti and Enrico Ticconi. The theme was 'moving landscapes'. Kaklea's autobiographical piece 'Ballad' explores the impossibility of transforming society through art. Panzetti/Ticconi's 'A E R E A' investigates the symbolism of flags, combining 'aerea' (aerial quality) and 'ara' (ancient sacrificial site). Winners received a production fee, mentorship, and access to Triennale spaces. Their work will be documented and archived at Triennale Milano. The premiere took place on October 20, 2019.
