Hera Büyüktaşçıyan's Dubai solo exhibition explores marble, labor, and water at Green Art Gallery

exhibition · 2026-04-20

Hera Büyüktaşçıyan's inaugural solo exhibition at Dubai's Green Art Gallery took place from 13 March to 6 May 2017. Featured in the Summer 2017 issue of ArtReview Asia, the show included the kinetic sculpture 'Chanting if I live, Forgetting it I die' (2017) and 'The Relic' (2016), which pays tribute to the identities of laborers that have been eroded. 'A Discovery of 36 Wells' (2016) presents drawings depicting workers’ homes as shattered cisterns, while 'Everflowing Pool of Nectar' (2017) reflects on transnational labor. Through her work, she delves into themes of oral history and hydraulic engineering, addressing significant narratives such as the Armenian Genocide, all within the context of Dubai's diminishing water table.
