Henrike Naumann's installations explore German ultraright roots through scenographic spaces
Henrike Naumann crafts immersive installations that delve into the ordinary roots of fascism, utilizing furnished stage sets integrated with video, sound, and scenographic components. Hailing from Zwickau, East Germany, her art scrutinizes the factors that facilitate the resurgence of fascism, particularly the notion of everyday fascism. The installation 14 Words (2018) at MMK Frankfurt examines the neo-Nazi group the Order, drawing on 14 slogans from Hitler's Mein Kampf. In her 2017 exhibition Das Reich at Kronprinzenpalais, she highlighted the Reichsbürger movement, showcasing modernist design pieces, including a cushion adorned with the Nazi-era Parteiadler emblem. Residing in Berlin, Naumann continues to investigate the rise of the German ultraright over the past twenty years.
