Henie Onstad Triennial Examines Resource Extraction Through Photography and New Media
The Henie Onstad Triennial for Photography and New Media, titled New Visions, is currently in its second edition at the Henie Onstad Kunstsenter in Oslo. This year's focus is on resource extraction, energy distribution, and data harvesting, particularly highlighting artists from the Middle East and North Africa. Curated by Susanne Østby Sæther, the event showcases 22 artists utilizing AI, animation, sculpture, film, textiles, and collage. Notable works include Haig Aivazian's 2021 video installation 'All of Your Stars Are but Dust on My Shoes,' which explores light as a means of state control; and Marat Dilman's photographs that fuse technology with tradition in a post-Soviet context. The exhibition continues until 17 September 2023.
