Hello Rembrandt! Interactive Exhibition for Children at Mauritshuis

exhibition · 2026-05-04

As part of the Year of Rembrandt celebrations marking the 350th anniversary of the artist's death, the Mauritshuis in The Hague presents Hello Rembrandt!, an interactive exhibition designed for children aged 3 to 11. The exhibition allows young visitors to explore Rembrandt's artistic techniques through play, including dressing up as the painter, experimenting with light puzzles, and touching 3D prints of his works. A special illustrated book featuring Maurits Mouse, the museum's mascot, guides children through Rembrandt's studio. For older children (ages 7-11), workshops are held daily, free of charge, where they can practice painting under the guidance of a museum teacher. The exhibition runs until September 15, 2019. The Mauritshuis houses two of Rembrandt's most famous works: The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp and a self-portrait from 1669. Other institutions participating in the Year of Rembrandt include the Rijksmuseum, Rembrandt House Museum, Fries Museum, and Museum De Lakenhal.
