Hella Jongerius's 'Entrelacs' Turns Lafayette Anticipations into a Living Weaving Lab

exhibition · 2026-04-23

At Lafayette Anticipations in Paris, the exhibition 'Entrelacs' by Dutch designer Hella Jongerius runs from June 7 to September 8, 2019, turning the venue into a weaving research hub. It showcases three active looms operated by skilled weavers from Jongeriuslab. By the conclusion of the exhibit, vibrant threads cascade from the third floor, creating three large woven spheres. On the first floor, a specially designed wooden machine integrates four looms for 3D weaving exploration, while the second floor features a TC2 digital loom aimed at enhancing Jacquard techniques. Born in 1963, Jongerius merges traditional craftsmanship with modern technology and has engaged in numerous significant projects. François Quintin, the director, highlights the center's role in supporting artists during their creative processes.
