Hélène Amouzou's 'In Between' Photo Installation Debuts at London's Royal Docks
On June 18, 2025, Hélène Amouzou, a photographer originally from Togo and now based in Brussels, will unveil a site-specific photo installation called In Between at London's Royal Docks. This project comprises six analogue portraits created in collaboration with Praxis, a charity dedicated to assisting refugees, and is co-curated by The Line and Arup Phase 2. Coinciding with Refugee Week, which runs from June 16 to 22, the series showcases images characterized by overexposure techniques, featuring subjects with items that symbolize their cultural backgrounds. The portraits, captured on film, were influenced by workshops with Praxis participants. This installation is part of The Line's 10th-anniversary celebration and includes works by renowned artists such as Anish Kapoor and Antony Gormley. Currently, over 122 million individuals are forcibly displaced worldwide, a number that has nearly doubled over the past ten years.
