Helena Lugo Named Executive Director of Mexico City's Terremoto Nonprofit

Helena Lugo has been appointed Executive Director of Asociación Terremoto, a Mexico City-based nonprofit organization. The 1989-born Mexican art historian and curator will assume leadership responsibilities previously held by Founding Director Dorothée Dupuis. Lugo's appointment coincides with Terremoto's transition into a new operational model as it approaches its 10th anniversary. Dupuis will now serve as President of the Executive Board while focusing on expanding publishing activities through sister company Temblores Publicaciones. Lugo holds an MFA in Curating from Goldsmiths College and brings experience from roles as Research Coordinator at MMAC Juan Soriano in Cuernavaca and Associate Curator at London's Chalton Gallery. She co-founded the collective Palmera Ardiendo and has collaborated with Mexico City's Salón ACME. Terremoto plans to launch artistic and curatorial residency programs in Mexico City and international locations under Lugo's direction. The organization has published its namesake magazine for nine years. Dupuis stated that Terremoto's new Executive Board and Artistic Council will collaborate with Lugo to advance the association's goals.
