Helen Legg Named Tate Liverpool Director, Replacing Francesco Manacorda
This summer, Helen Legg will step into the director position at Tate Liverpool, moving from her current role at Spike Island in Bristol. She’s taking over from Francesco Manacorda, who left for the V-A-C Foundation in Moscow last year. Legg has been at Spike Island since 2010, where she curated shows with artists like Hedwig Houben and Gillian Wearing. Before that, from 2005 to 2010, she worked as a curator at Ikon Gallery in Birmingham, where she played a key role in launching Ikon, Eastside in a former factory. Her experience includes serving on the selection panel for the 2017 Venice Biennale and judging the Jerwood Drawing Prize and the Turner Prize.
