Helen Cammock Awarded 2018 Max Mara Art Prize for Women with Italian Residency and Solo Exhibition

Helen Cammock received the 2018 Max Mara Art Prize for Women during a ceremony held at London's Whitechapel Gallery. The prize, created in 2005 through a partnership with the Whitechapel Gallery, is a biennial award designed to assist women artists based in the United Kingdom who have not yet had a major solo survey exhibition. Cammock was chosen from a shortlist that included Céline Condorelli, Eloise Hawser, Athena Papadopoulos, and Mandy El-Sayegh. As the winner, she will undertake a customized six-month residency across Italy, spending time in Bologna, Florence, Venice, Rome, Palermo, and Reggio Emilia. The new work developed during this residency will be featured in a solo exhibition at the Whitechapel Gallery in 2019. Following its London presentation, the exhibition will travel to Collezione Marmotti in Reggio Emilia.
