Helen Britton's 'The Story So Far' at Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery

From 20 June to 23 August 2026, the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery in Victoria, Australia, will host 'The Story So Far,' marking the tenth installment in the 'Living Treasures: Masters of Australian Craft' series. This exhibition showcases new creations by artist Helen Britton, which include drawings, installations, jewellery, objects, and paintings, as well as the debut of her photographic series 'My Godmother's House.' Between 2017 and 2019, Britton traveled to Australia three times to capture the essence of her great aunt and godmother's home on the Clarence River, which inspired her works. The exhibition delves into the intricate lives of country women and the creativity that influenced Britton's formative experiences in Australia. A standout piece, 'Junkyard 3' (2025), crafted from silver, paint, velvet, wood, copper, and steel, measures 60 x 60 x 8.6 cm and is photographed by Jacquie Manning. Curated by the gallery, this exhibition is part of a series that honors Australian craft.
