Heimo Zobernig Receives 2016 Roswitha Haftmann Prize, Europe's Highest-Valued Art Award

Heimo Zobernig has been named the recipient of the 2016 Roswitha Haftmann Prize, which carries a monetary award of CHF 150,000 (approximately £96,000). The Austrian artist, who has held a professorship in sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna since 2000, will be honored during a ceremony scheduled for 12 May 2016 at the Kunsthaus Zürich. This annual prize, presented by the Roswitha Haftmann Foundation based in Zurich, recognizes artists who have made substantial contributions to the visual arts. Zobernig's work is also featured in the Austrian pavilion at the 2015 Venice Biennale. Past laureates include Lawrence Weiner, Pierre Huygues, Harun Farocki, and Mona Hatoum.
