Heidi Bucher and Gordon Matta-Clark Paired at Alma Zevi, Venice
The Alma Zevi gallery in Venice presents a two-artist exhibition pairing Heidi Bucher (1926–1993) and Gordon Matta-Clark (1943–1978) for the first time. Both artists challenge architectural order and perceptual norms through visual inversions and architectural riddles. Matta-Clark's Bronx Floors features his signature cuts applied to beams from an abandoned building in the Bronx, New York. Bucher's Borg floors are casts of the floor of her Zurich studio, a former butcher's cold storage room, rendered in an almost organic material. The exhibition also includes videos of two performances from 1972: Matta-Clark's Tree Dance and Bucher's Body Shells, projected toward the street, highlighting their shared sensibility. The show runs at Alma Zevi gallery in Venice.
