Heaven or Hell? 100 designer shoes on display at Cube Design Museum in Kerkrade
The Cube Design Museum in Kerkrade, Netherlands, presents 'Heaven or Hell?', an exhibition curated by Elisabetta Pisu featuring 100 extraordinary shoe models. The show is co-produced by IMF Foundation and organized around six thematic sections: technology, iconicity, materials, sustainability, underground-to-mainstream transitions, and the intersection of art and shoe design. Highlights include Roger Vivier's 1954 metal-reinforced heel, Ross Lovegrove's 3D-printed Ilabo for United Nude (2015), Naomi Campbell's fall in Vivienne Westwood platforms, and Manolo Blahnik shoes worn by Sarah Jessica Parker in 'Sex & the City'. Sustainable designs feature algae-based Vivobarefoot Ultra 3, Laura Papp's porcelain shoes inspired by Gaudí's Sagrada Familia, Lou Mouria's recyclable Vacuum Forming Shoe, and Lotte de Boer's banana peel prototype. Zaha Hadid's Nova Shoes for United Nude (2013) exemplify sculptural, unwearable design with a 16 cm cantilever heel. The exhibition runs until September 2, 2018.
