HD House by Desvão Atelier: A Modern Retreat Near Arrábida Natural Park

architecture-design · 2026-08-06

The HD House, designed by architect Frederico Vicente from Desvão Atelier, was completed in 2024. It’s located between Sesimbra and Azeitão, on a trapezoidal plot flanked by an access road to the east and neighboring structures to the north and south. The home is raised one meter above the street, taking advantage of the natural slope, which reduces the need for heavy earthworks while providing visual and spatial privacy. Close to the Arrábida Natural Park, it offers breathtaking mountain views amidst a landscape filled with cork oaks, holm oaks, and typical low vegetation of the Portuguese montado. Covering 2,852 square feet, it involved engineering from Ricardo Lino Moura and landscaping by Arq. João Silva, with contributions from manufacturers like BRUMA and CIN. Susanna Moreira curated the project, which was photographed by Lourenço Teixeira de Abreu and featured on ArchDaily.
