award · 2026-04-20

A new award and lecture series has been established through collaboration between three institutions: Hayward Gallery, Durjoy Bangladesh Foundation, and Kochi Biennale Foundation. The Durjoy Bangladesh Foundation/Kochi-Muziris Biennale Award will recognize a South Asian artist participating in the Kochi-Muziris Biennale. The winner receives a solo exhibition at Hayward Gallery's HENI Project Space in London, marking their first institutional solo show in the UK. Selection for the inaugural laureate will occur from the biennale's fifth edition, opening on 12 December 2022. Hayward director Ralph Rugoff expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating the initiative advances the gallery's goal to make the HENI Project Space a key London venue for innovative global art. Additionally, the institutions will co-curate 'The Durjoy Bangladesh Lecture series,' a public program featuring talks by South Asian artists and curators at Hayward Gallery.
