Hawai‘i Triennial 2025 Announces Theme ALOHA NŌ

exhibition · 2026-04-22

Hawai‘i Contemporary has revealed the title and theme for the fourth Hawai‘i Triennial (HT25): ALOHA NŌ. This exhibition reinterprets aloha as a dynamic cultural practice and a force for transformation, expressed through contemporary art. Curated by Wassan Al-Khudhairi, Binna Choi, and Noelle M.K.Y. Kahanu—who are the first non-hierarchical trio of women of color curators for this event—HT25 is scheduled from 15 February to 4 May 2025, spanning the islands of O‘ahu, Maui, and Hawai‘i Island, marking a significant expansion beyond O‘ahu. Participating venues include Bishop Museum, Capitol Modern, and others. The curators articulated the theme as a response to global suffering, focusing on healing, solidarity, and radical love. Executive director Rosina Potter highlighted the exploration of universal themes through cultural specificity.
