Hauser & Wirth to Open New Paris Gallery in October with Henry Taylor Solo Show
Hauser & Wirth will inaugurate its new Paris headquarters on October 14, 2023, during Paris+ par Art Basel week. The gallery occupies a neoclassical hôtel particulier built in 1877, spanning 800 square meters over four floors at 26 bis rue François 1er in the 8th arrondissement. The inaugural exhibition will be a solo show by Los Angeles-based artist Henry Taylor, who will also have a major retrospective at the Whitney Museum in New York starting October 4. Taylor will complete a residency in Paris from June to July to prepare the project. The restoration was handled by Parisian firm Laplace, and a site-specific installation by Martin Creed is also planned. Séverine Waelchli, formerly of Sprüth Magers, Yvon Lambert, and Thaddaeus Ropac, has been appointed Senior Director, overseeing both the Paris and Monaco locations. She has lived in Paris since 2005 and intends to establish local partnerships for an inclusive educational program. Additionally, Mike Kelley will be featured at the Bourse de Commerce de Pinault starting October 12.
