Hauser & Wirth Somerset Opens Permanent Roth Bar by Oddur Roth
To celebrate its tenth anniversary, Hauser & Wirth has inaugurated a permanent Roth Bar at its Durslade Farm estate in Somerset, England. The bar, initially designed by Swiss artist Dieter Roth for a 1997 Zurich exhibition, has been reimagined through the contributions of Roth's son Björn and grandsons Oddur and Einar. During a residency from January to April 2024, Oddur revamped the bar, utilizing historical materials and interactive elements. This establishment complements the exhibition 'Phyllida Barlow: unscripted' (running until January 2025), curated by Francis Morris, which reflects on Barlow's 2014 presentation. Hauser & Wirth was founded in 1992 by Iwan and Manuela Wirth along with Ursula Hauser, with the Somerset gallery opening in 2014.
