Hauser & Wirth Opens East London Space with Kippenberger and Roth

exhibition · 2026-04-23

Hauser & Wirth has launched a new venue in a repurposed warehouse in East London, two and a half years after establishing a site near Piccadilly Circus. The opening exhibition showcases works by Martin Kippenberger (1953–1997) and Dieter Roth (1930–1998), alongside creations from Roth’s son, Björn Roth, who worked with his father for approximately two decades. The revamped Coppermill space, spanning several hundred square meters, features Kippenberger's pieces shortly after his retrospective at Tate Modern. Highlights include 'Jetzt gehe ich in den Birkenwald, denn meine Pillen wirken bald' (1990) and 'Jeder ist seines Glückes Schmied' (1983). The exhibition, which includes contributions from the Dutch bookshop Boekie Woekie, is open from May 26 to August 27, 2006.
