Hauser & Wirth Menorca Opens July 2021 with Mark Bradford
On July 17, 2021, Hauser & Wirth is set to unveil a new art center on Isla del Rey, Menorca, following five years of planning and two years dedicated to conservation efforts. The facility spans 1,500 square meters and is housed in the renovated annexes of the former hospital, featuring eight galleries, a shop, and the Cantina restaurant. The opening exhibition will highlight new pieces by Mark Bradford. Co-president Manuela Wirth shared her enthusiasm for the initiative, which prioritizes sustainability through collaborations with the Menorca Preservation Fund and Fundación Hospital de la Isla del Rey. The restoration was overseen by architect Luis Laplace, with gardens designed by Piet Oudolf, and a sculpture trail will include works by Louise Bourgeois, Eduardo Chillida, and Franz West. Mar Rescalvo has been appointed as the director.
