Hauser & Wirth launches nonprofit institute for art research and archives
Hauser & Wirth has introduced the Hauser & Wirth Institute, an independent nonprofit dedicated to funding research fellowships and safeguarding artist archives. The institute will establish a study center focused on the conservation, cataloging, and digitization of archival materials, ensuring online accessibility, and will produce online catalogues raisonnés and publications. Public programs will engage a range of stakeholders, including both affiliated and independent artists. Its first initiative is an online catalogue raisonné of Franz Kline, created in partnership with the Franz Kline Estate. Iwan Wirth noted that this institute builds on the gallery's 25-year commitment to supporting artists. Additionally, a new exhibition space in St. Moritz opened in September, and a quarterly art magazine named Ursula will debut its first issue in December.
