Hauser & Wirth Announces New York Gallery Building Designed by Annabelle Selldorf
Hauser & Wirth will construct a new gallery building at 542 West 22nd Street in New York's West Chelsea arts district. Annabelle Selldorf of Selldorf Architects, who has collaborated with the gallery since the 1990s on spaces in Zurich, London, and New York City, will design the structure. The existing Manhattan gallery will continue operations until its lease expires in 2017, with partner and vice president Marc Payot maintaining oversight. This project follows the scheduled January 2016 opening of the Hauser Wirth & Schimmel arts centre in Los Angeles. The new West 22nd Street location is projected to open in 2018. The announcement was made on 20 February 2015.
