Happennino Festival returns to Marche hinterland for fifth edition

The fifth edition of Happennino, a multidisciplinary festival focused on reactivating the Marche hinterland, will take place from September 2 to 4, 2022, across five towns in the province of Pesaro Urbino: Mercatello sul Metauro, Sant'Angelo in Vado, Borgo Pace, Piobbico, and Peglio. Organized by Andrea Angelini, Francesco Martinelli, and Vittoria Podrini, the festival features a lineup of national contemporary culture figures including Maurizio Carucci (Ex-Otago frontman), Maura Gancitano and Andrea Colamedici (founders of Tlon philosophy school), Studio Mario Cucinella Architects, naturalist Andrea Boscherini, and musicians Marlene Kuntz and Vasco Brondi. New this year is the Scuola di Futuro, a free workshop on territorial planning and management for 40 selected participants, held on September 3 in Peglio. The festival's graphic identity is curated by illustrator Alessandro Baronciani. Happennino aims to offer an alternative narrative to stereotypical portrayals of Italian inner areas, emphasizing sustainability and long-term community engagement over short-lived events.
