Hannah Rickards and Ima-Abasi Okon win Nigel Greenwood prizes with focus on sonic landscapes

In 2018, the Nigel Greenwood Art Prize was awarded to Hannah Rickards, while Ima-Abasi Okon took home the Nigel Greenwood Research Prize. They were chosen from a shortlist that featured Mark Barker, Alex McNamee, and Freya Douglas-Morris. Rickards will enjoy a three-month residency at a studio and cottage in the Scottish Borders, accompanied by a £5,000 honorarium. Okon will receive £1,000 and a one-month residency. These awards pay tribute to the late British gallerist Nigel Greenwood, who supported artists such as Gilbert & George, Keith Milow, and David Tremlett. The jury, including Stella Bottai, Simon Groom, Sam McEwan, Stephanie Straine, and Oliver Basciano, appreciated Rickards and Okon's focus on aural dimensions in their work.
