Hand vs. Machine: 10 Architectural Projects Explore Workmanship of Risk

In 1968, furniture designer and RCA professor David Pye published 'The Nature and Art of Workmanship,' distinguishing between 'workmanship of risk' and 'workmanship of certainty.' Pye argued that risk is not about hands versus machines but about processes where the outcome depends on the maker's judgment, while certainty is pre-determined by jigs, molds, or programs.
